It was the best ...I just Googled Thunder Mountain. It was the best Chardonnay I've ever tasted back in the 90's. Really sorry to hear of his passing a dozen years later. No, I don't believe Trader Joe's has much of a kosher wine selection. But maybe I'm the wrong person to ask. I've never really considered the quality of a wine shop's kosher wine selection. I must admit however that it was Trader Joe's that introduced me to Ch. Clarke, a fully kosher Bordeaux producer. The '86 some years back was a reasonable drink for under $10. Apparently harvested under the supervision of a rabbi straight from Israel!Vincent Fritzschehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18153962387209512138noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10545804.post-1125418946311386372005-08-30T09:22:00.000-07:002005-08-30T09:22:00.000-07:00Does Trader Joe have much of a kosher wine section...Does Trader Joe have much of a kosher wine section?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10545804.post-1124814756164963802005-08-23T09:32:00.000-07:002005-08-23T09:32:00.000-07:00Truth be told, I was there loading up on supplies ...Truth be told, I was there loading up on supplies for a barbeque. But Trader Joe's in California can actually be a great place to find deals. The wine selection varies store to store, but it's nothing like we see in the northwest. I've gotten bargains on Warre's Vintage Port, Carruades de Lafite, and others over the years.

And Fred Meyer - at least in a number of Portland area stores - can have an excellent wine selection. Hollywood's the best, but if you're ever passing through Tualatin on I-5, exit 289, check out Mike Dietrich at the Fred Meyer there. Incredible selection, great prices, and the bargain bin to end all bargain bins.Vincent Fritzschehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18153962387209512138noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10545804.post-1124809896291661562005-08-23T08:11:00.000-07:002005-08-23T08:11:00.000-07:00Vincent, you've got it bad. A sign of being a true wine junkie is rooting around Trader Joes for wine while on vacation.

BTW, I visited Fred Meyer off Broadway while in Portland a few weeks ago. What a great wine selection for Fred Meyer!

MarcAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10545804.post-1124467704476543122005-08-19T09:08:00.000-07:002005-08-19T09:08:00.000-07:00I'm a closet meat eater.
